The initiative taken by the Government of Haryana to invite investment in Gurgaon has caused an active growth in knowledge based industries, including Information Technology (IT) services. This idea has generated a huge demand for space of official purposes and as a result residential properties are in demand.

Space for official purposes in corporate buildings as well as in commercial centers like Info City, IMT Manesar, Pace City and Udyog Vihar has driven Gurgaon to turn into the commercial center of India. Golf course road has turned into the central space of corporate office with a number of grades-A buildings such as Orchid Square, Vatika Towers, Global Foyer, Augusta Point, Centrum Plaza and Vipul Tech Square coming up here. In addition, Sohna road is witnessing frantic development of office space by developers including Omaxe, Bestech and Spaze.

Some other areas fast-developing as a shopping avenue are National Highway no 8, DLF Phase I, DLF Phase II, DLF Phase VI, Sohna Road, Part 2 of Sector 15 and many more. The second largest US provider of rooms Hilton Hotels Corp. and joint venture partner DLF Ltd have planned to make an investment of $1.5 Billion for constructing a chain of hotels across India, roughly 60 to 70 hotels. In association with Inter Continental Group, Today Group has supplied with a 235-room Five Star Hotel on NH-8 that is located opposite Signature Towers. Vatika is also in the line of constructing hotels and one of them is the Westin Hotel on M.G. Road and it is expected to start operation before 2010. HUDA has publicly sold a large chuck of land in sector 29 Gurgaon for the purpose of hospitality related development.

Healthcare centers in Gurgaon are in the process of development with world- class facilities. One of them is Artemis Health Institute (AHI), a 500-bed super-specialty health center constructed by Artemis Health Sciences (AHS) – a healthcare business enterprise opened by the promoters of the Apollo Tyres Group. Sector 38 in Gurgaon is witnessing a multi-disciplinary medical city named “MediCity”. It is being constructed by Dr. Naresh Trehan and the construction of MediCity also includes R&D centre, training institutes and special synergy of both unconventional and contemporary medicines for treatment to be setup in Gurgaon. The medical city has made a promise to bring in a novel age of medicine. It has also planned to put together super-specialties, such as oncology, neurosciences, cardiology and technically sophisticated orthopedics among others. Additionally, Ranbaxy Group of Companies has instituted work on its 950-bed facility hospital, Fortis International Institute of Medical Sciences that is spread over an area of 10.7-acre of land in the heart of Gurgaon. Some other high-end hospitals in Gurgaon are Max Healthcare, Umkal, Privat and Paras Hospital.
